In a dilapidated block within the enterprise district of Africa’s wealthiest metropolis, Johannesburg, Thulani Cele and 300 others squatting within the constructing fill buckets with water from the one working faucet to allow them to drink and wash.
“We live in a horrible state of affairs. We want bathrooms … We want water,” says Cele, a 40-year-old former retail employee, who provides that residents don’t have any sanitation and should use buckets as bathrooms.
The Johannesburg division of housing has stated certainly one of its priorities is offering water and sanitation to casual settlements and all residents deserve high quality companies and should get them. But Cele and his neighbors really feel they’re being ignored.
