Body pulled from water near busy Westfield shopping centre after being spotted by passer-by

THE body of a man has been pulled out of a creek next to a busy Westfield shopping centre.

Cops cordoned the site off as a crime scene after the lifeless man was spotted by a member of the public in Brisbane, Australia.

Emergency services rushed to Downfall Creek in Chermside shortly after 10am local time on Thursday (1am GMT).

A body was retrieved from the water and police say the victim was an older man.

Officers are now probing the circumstances of his death after declaring a crime scene, reports news.com.au.

A spokesman for Queensland Police said: “A member of the public called it into us.

“The area has now been declared a crime scene.”

A report is due to be prepared for the coroner.
